Nyungwe Forest National Park is located in the south west of Rwanda Covering over 1000 square kilomtres, Nyungwe is surely one of the worlds most beautiful and pristine mountain rainforests and It’s believed to be one of Africa’s oldest forests.

Nyungwe Forest is a home to habituated chimpanzees and 12 other primates species (including over 400-strong troop of habituated Ruwenzori Black & White Colobus Monkey) it’s also a birder’s paradise with over 300 species, including 16 endemics, and is home to 75 different species of mammal.

Nyungwe is filled with nature and wildlife experiences for you to emerge yourself in, Hiking and tracking the famous chimpanzees, experiencing the canopy walk, witnessing beautiful birds, relaxing by waterfalls are just a glimpse of activities that Nyungwem Forest has to offer.

Tourists and other Visitors who visits Nyungwe National Park can now experience the rainforest from this new perspective Canopy Walkway, The East Africa's only Canopy Walkway provides a stunning view of the park's amazing wildlife and nature The Walkway is accessible as part of a specialized guided tour along the Igishigishigi, hiking the Imbaraga or Umuyove trails.

The Canopy Walkway Tour costs $60 U.S. per person. All participants must be at least six years of age and children must be accompanied by adults.

It is not surprising that chimpanzee tracking is a popular activity in Nyungwe (especially when the park's trees are in full bloom during the summer) as well-trained guides often lead visitors through the park's forests and while actually viewing chimpanzees is not guaranteed, you'll enjoy learning about these creatures and their natural habitats from your guides.

Detailed Itinerary for 5 days Uganda and Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Trek Tour/Safari

Day 1 –Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Our tour guide will meet you at your hotel in Kampala and drive west to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Have a journey break at the Equator and take some photos. Then continue to Mbarara town where you will stop for lunch prior to heading through the grasslands of Ankole, Along the road you will enjoy the beauty of the wonderful long horned cattle before going on to the highlands of Kigezi referred to as the 'Switzerland of Africa! You will arrive in Bwindi in the evening; freshen up as you wait for dinner and over night.

Day 2 –Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park

Take a hearty breakfast after which a ranger then move to the ranger station for briefing from ranger guides who will guide you through the impenetrable forest. Tracking the Gorillas through the thick forest is awe-Inspiring experience, spend 1 hour with them, and be back at the lodge in time for dinner. Remember to carry packed lunch, enough water as this activity is so tiring, it's also important to wear good hiking boots of an ankle level and long trousers for protection against stinging nettles.

Day 3 –Transfer to Rwanda- Parc des Volcans

Take breakfast and depart for Rwanda. You will cross the border via Kisoro or Kabale then clear at the boarder - Rwanda is 1 hour behind Uganda . Located in the far northwest of Rwanda, the Parc des Volcans is home to the steep slopes of this wonderful mountain range home of the rare mountain gorilla and the rich mosaic of montane ecosystems, which cuddles evergreen and bamboo forest, open grassland, swamp and heath.

Day 4 – Gorilla trekking in Pac des Volcanoes

Have breakfast and go to park head offices for briefing after that set off in the forest for Gorilla trekking. A thrilling trek through the refined foothills of the Virungas provides inspiring views in all directions. Then, suddenly, the trail enters the national park, engrossing trekkers in the strange closeness of the rainforest, alive with the calls of colorful birds and chattering of the rare golden monkey, and besieged with fresh spoor of the mountains' elusive populations of buffalo and elephant. Through gaps in the forest canopy, the marvelous peaks are sighted, easy to get to and among the uppermost in Africa, indicating an ascent. Day 5- Transfer to Kigali airport
